Buhl Bushong Update from Humble Quilts

My main project I wanted to work on at the retreat was my Buhl Bushong quilt from the Virginia quilt museum. See it HERE.

It is hard to photograph since it is long... working on borders. This one is done, except for the corners which we won't do yet.
I'm done with this section of the 3rd appliqued border.
I am machine appliqueing with a tiny zig zag and matching thread.
It is a lot of time at the machine!!

So, at the retreat,  I announced to the ladies that I would stay focused and I estimated I ...

Countdown to 2020 from Humble Quilts

I'm always so sad to say goodbye to another Christmas season.
Here's a peak into my world the last few days.

Working on a little Buhl quilt. The quarters will have sashing so they don't need to be perfectly symmetrical! (the blog is called Humble Quilts for a reason!LOL)

Buhl Bushong from Humble Quilts

This is my test block and although the photo was taken after the sun set and the photo is lousy, the quilt block will work for me!

I am really enjoying the Holiday Favorites Blog Hop and I hope you are too!
This is the link from Saturday ...

Buhl Bushong, Christmas and Winner! from Humble Quilts

Getting the second border prepped  for the Buhl Bushong quilt. I also need to start sewing the center portion. Soon...yes, soon.

'
I got our tree decorated and these sweet little beaded bells were made by my grandmother.

The fog and hoarfrost is beautiful but also dangerous with the freezing fog making roads a sheet of ice. Glad I don't have to be out in it too much.

The winner of the vintage doily is Farm Quilter!
I'll get it in the mail as soon as I get your address!

I hope you'll visit Beth's blog ...

Buhl Bushong Border 1 from Humble Quilts

I actually have no clue where the name of this quilt comes from, only that Mary pressured me to indulge! LOL (She didn't really have to pressure too hard)
I didn't have to look too far for the name of the quilt- terrific history of the quilt HERE.

I am finally done with my first border.

Here is the amazing quilt, which the pattern is being published by Virginia Quilt Museum. You can see for yourself at the link HERE.

I am behind, but have ordered red for the points and will start on the left border soon ...
